After Push by States, U.S. Supreme Court Clears the Way for President Trump’s Immigration Restrictions

This week, the Supreme Court ordered an end to a lower-court injunction against President Trump’s ban on asylum for anyone who attempts to enter the U.S. without first seeking protection in another country. Montana Attorney General Tim Fox and other state attorneys general had filed an amicus brief urging the court to take this action. Fox issued the following statement in response to the ruling:

“The immigration crisis on our nation’s southern border has forced federal agencies to divert resources away from screening, which has contributed to a dramatic spike in illegal drugs entering the U.S.,” Fox said. “I am grateful that President Trump is working to address this crisis using powers delegated to the executive branch by the legislative branch.”
