AG Fox: Student Loans for Totally, Permanently Disabled Veterans Should be Automatically Forgiven
Attorney General Tim Fox issued the following statement after joining his counterparts across the country in urging the U.S. Department of Education to automatically forgive the student loans of veterans who became totally and permanently disabled in connection with their military service.
“While the federal government has taken steps to make it easier for qualified veterans to secure student loan relief, an automatic discharge process would eliminate unnecessary paperwork and ensure all eligible veterans who are totally and permanently disabled receive forgiveness of their educational loans,” Attorney General Tim Fox said. “As our nation prepares to observe Memorial Day, it is time we take action to better protect those who once protected us. Our veterans deserve nothing less,” Fox added.
