The recent passage of HB 21, which established “Hanna’s Act,” and SB 312, which created the Looping In Native Communities Network (LINC) Act, changes the ways missing persons cases will be reported and investigated across the state. The Montana Department of Justice invites you to save the date for these events being hosted by Montana Division of Criminal Investigation :

Tuesday, June 11 / 1:00 pm—5:00 pm:
- Initial meeting of the Missing Persons Task Force. Welcome address by Attorney General Tim Fox.
- Discussion of jurisdictional issues and scope.
Wednesday, June 12 / 8:00 am—4:30 pm:
- Welcome, tribal blessing: Montana Attorney General Tim Fox, U.S. Attorney Kurt Alme, tribal leader
- Keynote: Lucy Simpson, Director, National Indigenous Women’s Resource Center
- Training tracks for law enforcement and the public, will include presentations by National AMBER Alert Staff, NCIC, NCMEC, NamUs, FBI, BIA, Montana DOJ, Ryan United
- Topics to include: AMBER Alerts in Indian Country, how, when, and where to file a missing person’s report; resources available to the public and law enforcement; nexus of human trafficking and missing persons and runaways, victim awareness and support.
