Event Details

10 weeks of training which includes, but not limited to, the following:

  • CPR/ First Aid (AHA)
  • TASER certification (agencies must provide their own TASER and cartridges)
  • Radar Review and practical application
  • CJIN training and qualification
  • 4 days of Gracie Survival Tactics ground fight training
  • 2 weeks of on scene crash investigation
  • Advanced DUI training which includes practical application drills, and SFST refresher
  • Courtroom Testimony
  • Roadside Criminal Interdiction
  • Advanced Firearms Training (agencies must provide their own weapons and ammunition, to include pistol, rifle, and shotgun)
  • Deadly Encounters Force on Force Training
  • Traffic stop application to include Stop Stick training at Track
  • TIMS
  • Hazmat

Anyone who wishes to attend must be present for all classes and be willing to follow all MHP codes of conduct and academy rules while attending the academy. They must meet MHP standards regarding uniform appearance and physical fitness. Physical fitness training is mandatory and will be conducted 3 times a week prior to the start of class. They must maintain a 75% or better for all academic classes with the exception of crash investigation which requires an 80% or better.

Interested parties must be a graduate of the MLEA or have met the equivalency and be a currently sworn Law Enforcement Officer in the state of Montana.

There is no registration cost, but attendees will be responsible for meals, lodging, and any supplies provided to them.
