Fox Sends Letter to Senator Tester, Urging Support for the Confirmation of Judge Neil Gorsuch to the U.S. Supreme Court
Montana Attorney General Tim Fox sent a letter Thursday to U.S. Senator Jon Tester, urging him to support the confirmation of Judge Neil Gorsuch as the next Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court. In his letter, General Fox, an adopted member of the Crow Tribal Nation, cites Judge Gorsuch’s expertise in Federal Indian Law, and broad support from tribal leaders in Montana, as well as his exemplary qualifications, which have been regularly demonstrated throughout the confirmation process.
“Judge Gorsuch’s demonstrated knowledge and thoughtful application of Federal Indian Law and tribal sovereignty is refreshing and important to Montana tribal nations and indigenous people, so much so that his confirmation is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that cannot be lost,” said Attorney General Fox. “With my 30 years of Montana and national experience as an attorney, and with hundreds of appearances before judges in local, state and federal courts, including federal circuit court and Supreme Court advocacy, I find Judge Gorsuch to be extremely well qualified, mainstream, and worthy of confirmation.”
In his letter, General Fox also offered his counsel to Senator Tester if he remains undecided, writing:
“I urge you to vote to confirm Judge Gorsuch, and I stand ready to assist you in concluding your decision-making process so that you can be confident in a vote for confirmation. Please do not hesitate to call me if I can be service to you on this important matter.”
Judge Gorsuch completed his confirmation hearing before the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee last week, and the committee is expected to vote on Gorsuch’s confirmation early next week.
