Motor Vehicle Division Implements New Appointment Scheduling System
The Montana Department of Justice’s Motor Vehicle Division (MVD) announced its Driver License Bureau is implementing new software for its on-line appointment scheduling services.
“This new system will significantly improve the way our Motor Vehicle Division delivers services to customers across Montana,” Attorney General Tim Fox said. “It will give more Montanans the opportunity to schedule an appointment versus relying on walk-in only services, and it also works well on mobile devices. This will allow MVD’s customers to plan their days and make the most efficient use of their valuable time,” Attorney General Fox added.
MVD Administrator Sarah Garcia said, “The new software replaces an eight-year-old system and brings not only a new look, but an inviting ease of use for customers taking advantage of scheduling online. The design of the system allows for a much more efficient manner of scheduling, editing, or canceling appointments. We know this is a valuable service to Montana residents; our goal is to expand this system statewide.”
Currently, the following driver exam stations require scheduled appointments: Billings, Bozeman, Columbus, Eureka, Glendive, Great Falls, Helena, Kalispell, Miles City, Missoula, Red Lodge, Sidney, Superior, and Townsend. All other driver exam stations operate on a first-come, first-served basis.
The new appointment scheduling system was implemented in Bozeman last week; Stevensville is expected to go on-line this week.
Customers are encouraged to visit the Driver Services section of the Montana Department of Justice’s website at www.dojmt.gov/driving. It offers details about required documentation, fees, and other important information people need to know before scheduling appointments, including written and road tests, converting an out-of-state license to Montana, license renewals, and completion of some types of driver education programs. Once an appointment has been made, an email or text message will be sent to confirm.
People who do not have computer or smart phone access should call the MVD Customer Service Center toll free at 1-866-450-8034 to schedule an appointment.
