Montana’s Attorney General Austin Knudsen administered the oath of office for Steve Lavin who became the Colonel of the Montana Highway Patrol. Prior to his appointment to his position as Colonel, Lavin was a major in the Highway Patrol with 28 years of service.
“Steve has served our state well for nearly three decades. It is my distinct honor to swear him in as our Colonel of the Highway Patrol,” Attorney General Knudsen said. “He has the experience, vision, and leadership we need to tackle the challenges our state faces. Steve’s integrity and devotion to duty will serve the citizens of Montana well.”
“I look forward to the task ahead and appreciate the confidence that Attorney General Knudsen has placed in me,” Lavin said. “I am honored to continue serving the people of Montana and leading the men and women of the Highway Patrol.”
The mission of the Montana Highway Patrol is to safeguard the lives and property of the people using the highway traffic system of Montana through education, service, enforcement and interagency cooperation.
