Course Description: Introduces key concepts of patrol shotgun concepts for law enforcement use including but not limited to:

  • key legal considerations for law enforcement shotgun use
  • safety practices
  • intended function
  • ammunition types, ballistic characteristics, & effective range
  • reloading techniques & transitions
  • qualification on the weapon system

Gear List:

  • Agency issued (or approved) shotgun
  • Thirty (30) rifled-slugs
  • Eye/ear protection
  • Wide-brimmed hat or ball-cap
  • Weather-appropriate clothing
  • Sun protection as necessary
  • Agency-issued body armor

Prerequisites: Students must be POST-certified sworn law enforcement officers issued (or approved to use) a shotgun for duty use.

Course Registration: Email course POC ([email protected]) to register for the class. Arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the start of class for sign-in, safety briefing, weapon/ammo inspections, and range orientation.
