The Montana Executive Leadership Institute (MELI) is designed to cultivate future leaders for criminal justice agencies. Its comprehensive curriculum adopts a broad-based approach, incorporating leadership and management principles proven successful in corporate settings. This program equips managers with tools to assess their own strengths and weaknesses, as well as those of individuals and groups within their organization. By doing so, MELI empowers leaders to take decisive action in enhancing organizational culture and performance

The course synthesizes content from the United States Military Academy West Point, U.S. Coast Guard Academy, U.S. Naval Postgraduate School, FBI National Academy, IACP’s Leadership in Police Organizations, Westfall – Gallagher Leadership & Performance Management, and several other world class leadership development programs.  The course provides multiple perspectives from a variety of subject matter experts on leadership and theories designed to stimulate critical thinking and strategic planning for the future.  Due to its popularity and intensive nature, enrollment is capped at 32 students per year, ensuring personalized attention and maximizing the learning experience for each participant.
