MHP Announces New Tweeting Trooper in Billings-Metro Area

Billings, MT- Captain Keith Edgell, District IV Commander of the Montana Highway Patrol, announced today that Trooper Calvin Jimmerson will begin utilizing social media to connect directly with citizens in the Billings-metro area as part of the agency’s Tweeting Trooper program. Jimmerson will be active on both Twitter and Instagram platforms and can be found using the handle @TrooperCalvin for both accounts. Jimmerson intends to provide accurate, timely and relevant updates on events of importance to the Billings community including information on road conditions, crashes, educational safety tips and more.

“We’ve had a lot of success using social media to connect with our communities,” says Captain Edgell. “By utilizing a trooper specializing in information for the Billings area exclusively, it’s our hope to communicate more directly and efficiently with the public on issues of importance to them,” Edgell concluded.

The Tweeting Trooper program was started by the Montana Highway Patrol in early 2018 as a way to develop their collaborative approach to community policing and interact and build relationships with members of the communities that they serve. There are currently eight Tweeting Troopers stationed across the entire state.
