On Saturday, December 12th, an MHP Sergeant was struck in his vehicle by a semi while investigating a crash on I-94 between Huntley and Lockwood. The sergeant was parked on the righthand shoulder of the road with his emergency lights activated when the semi lost control and jackknifed, striking the rear of the patrol car and totaling it. Alcohol and drugs are not currently considered to be factors in the crash.
The sergeant was transported to a local hospital where he was examined for injuries. Currently, it appears that there are no broken bones, but he is experiencing neck, back and leg pain.
We strongly encourage drivers to slow down and allow themselves extra time to respond in inclement conditions.
