MISSOULA, MT.: At approximately 7:30AM, a vehicle vs. pedestrian crash occurred on Kona Ranch Rd at Sandalwood Ct in Missoula County. The crash occurred when a six-year-old girl attempted to cross Kona Ranch Rd and was struck by a vehicle. It is believed that the girl was crossing the road to get to her bus stop. The bus was approaching the stop but had not activated any of the warning or stop lights. The vehicle slowed down and attempted to swerve but was unable to avoid contact. The crash occurred during sunrise and the light levels were still rising.

The six-year-old pedestrian has been life-flighted for her injuries; the driver was not injured in the crash. The Montana Highway Patrol is the primary handling this investigation.
