The Bozeman Police Department is pleased to announce the offering of the Law Enforcement Bicycle Association’s nationally recognized Basic Police Mountain Bike Course.

This four (4) day course is scheduled for June 22 – 25, 2026 in beautiful Bozeman, Montana.  There are many exceptional mountain biking trails in and around Bozeman. An entire ride is dedicated to pedaling the scenic trails of the Gallatin National Forest, with an elevation gain of 2,000 to 3,000 feet.

Topics covered will include proper bike and helmet fit, safety equipment, nutrition, types of cycling injuries, hypothermia and dehydration, stretching, slow speed bike drills, accident prevention, emergency braking, gears and cadence, police technical skills, bicycle maintenance and repair, how to be an effective cyclist, and firearms tactics.

This class will stress teamwork and overcoming obstacles. Training rides will be conducted daily, and you must be able to complete rides up to 20 miles maintaining a 12-14 mph pace. Cone drill techniques must be completed to the satisfaction of the instructors, and a written examination must be passed with an 80% or higher score.

The Bozeman Police Department in Bozeman, MT will be hosting a LEBA Class A Basic Police Mountain Bike Course June 22 – June 25, 2026 at the Bozeman Public Safety Center (901 N. Rouse Ave., Bozeman, MT). The class will run 8:00 am – 5:00 pm each day, and 32 hours of Montana POST credit is available. The cost to attend is $150.
