Lunch is not provided but may be purchased for $10.25 per day, the Full meal plan is $30.00 per day and lodging is $30 per night (if available).

Agencies will need to send their prospective students to MLEA with a laptop or tablet capable of accessing the internet and their ACADIS Portal. If you do not have access to your ACADIS Portal, please contact your supervisor or POST at [email protected].

The purpose of this course is to provide participants with the skills, training and necessary certifications to process DUI arrests in Montana. Instruction is both classroom and hands on. Standardized Field Sobriety Testing, Portable Breath Test Instruments, the Intoxilyzer 9000 and the legal environment surrounding DUI are covered in this course. Instructors are from the Montana Crime Lab’s Breath Alcohol Program, Toxicologists, the Montana DRE and SFST State Coordinators, and Montana’s Traffic Safety Resource Prosecutor.

Intended Audience (LEQ/SFST only).

This course DOES NOT offer a wet lab.  Officers who do not have prior experience investigating impaired drivers should consider attending the SFST course where a wet lab is offered.

Participants should be employed and under the direct control of public criminal justice agency. Ideally, officers responsible for DUI enforcement will use all aspects of the training, especially the three SFSTs. Officers selected to attend this training should be aware of the hazards caused by impaired drivers and be motivated to make the roadways of Montana safer for everyone.
