Course Description:
This entry level two (2)-day course moves beyond traditional training, equipping all law
enforcement personnel with essential skills for street-level calls for service involving
cellular data.
Course Highlights:
Learn about the top three (3) cellular providers and what type of data is provided in call
detail records.
Secure digital records before they’re lost due to changing data retention policies
Integrate cellular data with surveillance footage, LPR info, GPS trackers, vehicle
infotainment systems, forensic downloads, and social media
Map phone records using real case exercises
Draft basic search warrants for electronic data
Identify and analyze types of cellular data (call detail records, location data, texts)
Optimize officer assignments and improve response times
Locate callers and prioritize emergencies
Track suspects or missing persons in real time
Incorporate carrier location emails into mappable CAD resources
Learn best practices for completing carrier forms and obtain cellular “pings” during
exigent situations (including social media)
Understand accuracy, privacy, and legal challenges of cellular data
