The Public Safety Officer Standards & Training Council was formed in 2007 under 2-15-2029, MCA as an independent Quasi-judicial board. And as allowed by statute the Council adopted Administrative Rules of Montana (ARMs) in order to implement the provisions of Title 44, chapter 4, part 4, MCA.

POST
On September 30, 2024, the staff of the Montana POST Council were presented with 2024 Governor’s Awards for Excellence in Performance. POST staff were nominated for their diligent work in making their new software and the Montana Public Safety Portal come to fruition over a matter of several weeks, and without bringing on any new staff.
POST Integrity Reports
Under Administrative Rule 23.13, Subchapter 7, the POST Council reviews complaints against public safety officers and, if appropriate, may revoke or suspend an officer’s certification. The Council has developed and approved an allegation policy regarding how complaints are processed. The Montana POST Integrity Report provides a summary of revocation and suspension cases on which the POST Council has ruled.
