Trooper David DeLaittre

He was just a genuinely good person. He loved everybody and he loved his job to no end.

Montana Highway Patrol Trooper David DeLaittre was killed December 1 in a shootout near his hometown of Three Forks. He had stopped to investigate a pick-up truck idling in the middle of the road. The driver of truck opened fire on DeLaittre and the two exchanged shots.

DeLaittre, 23, was a blessing to his parents and two little sisters. He was an exemplary trooper in the Montana Highway Patrol and a fine citizen of Montana. He will forever be greatly missed.

A memorial fund has been established for his family at the First Security Bank of Three Forks.
